Spring in Cape May County brings exciting events and important community news, with organizers planning many activities and sharing updates that affect residents. Keep reading to find out what’s happening!

Cape May Activities: County Receives StormReady Renewal

Recently, the National Weather Service renewed Cape May County’s StormReady designation, and this recognition will remain effective until March 3, 2029. Moreover, the county demonstrated its ongoing commitment to weather preparedness and public safety. Indeed, the StormReady program helps communities respond effectively during severe weather events. Six critical areas were successfully addressed by the county:

  • Communications
  • Receiving National Weather Service information
  • Weather and water monitoring systems
  • Local warning systems
  • Community preparedness
  • Record-keeping and administrative tools

Avalon Events: Job Fair and Community Activities

On April 12, a Job Fair will be hosted on 7 Mile Island. Summer businesses are currently hiring enthusiastic individuals for the upcoming busy season. All ages are welcomed to participate.

Additionally, Avalon will hold its annual Spring Dune Grass Planting on Saturday, April 26. The organizers encourage volunteers of all ages to join. Following the planting, a light lunch will be provided at Community Hall.

The Avalon Garden Club will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 25. A “London Plane Tree” will be planted at 35th Street and Dune Drive at 10:30 am.

Stone Harbor News: Beach Sweep and Family Fun

Clean Ocean Action’s Annual Spring Beach Sweep is scheduled for Saturday, April 12 at 10 am. Participants can register at several __cpLocations:

  • Avalon – 30th Street Beach
  • Stone Harbor – 95th Street Beach
  • Sea Isle City – 31 John F. Kennedy Blvd

Families looking for holiday fun can ride the Easter Bunny Express from April 12 through April 19 aboard Cape May Seashore Lines.
