Stone Harbor Public Restrooms At Water Tower Comfort Station Now Open

They’re Back, Laughing Gull are Nesting!

The Wetlands Institute reports that the first Laughing Gulls have appeared on Ring Island, near the Institute.  Commonly known as seagulls, the iconic birds are now arriving for the summer season.  Ring Island is a marshy island behind Stone Harbor that is the summer home of thousands of seagulls.

The Inaugural Spring into Summer Program

The Inaugural Spring into Summer Program will take place throughout the month of June in Avalon.  Each week will focus on a specific theme and the hope is this event will encourage owners and visitors to enjoy June at the beach.

History Center Lecture: Let’s Play Ball – a History of Baseball in America

America Bat and ball games have been played in America since the late 1700s and between 1850 and 1870, it was thousands of part-time athletes who turned an informal game into a codified sport.
Join us to learn about the origin of this uniquely American pastime.

Birding at Cape May Point

Avalon Spring Dune Grass Planting

Saturday – April 20 – 8:30am – Avalon Community Hall

Avalon holds Dune Grass Plantings twice each year for volunteers to participate in protecting our beautiful shoreline. Plantings are held in late April and late October and are open to volunteers young and old. Some teachers even give their students extra credit for participating in this important Community event. Volunteers meet at the Avalon Community Hall, 30th Street and Avalon Avenue at 8:30 a.m. and are given a brief tutorial on the technique to be used when planting the dune grasses. After the Dune Grass planting, there is a bagged light lunch provided outside Community Hall. READ MORE

Avalon Environmental Commission – Garden Club Celebrate Arbor Day!
