Tentative Dredging Schedule

Please be advised that Avalon anticipates awarding a contract to Weeks Marine, Inc. to complete the dredging and placement of 350,000 cubic yards of sand on the Borough’s beaches between 9th Street and 18th Street. Weeks Marine is currently working on a beachfill project in Brigantine, Atlantic County, and is expected to begin work in Avalon immediately after they complete the work in Brigantine.
The Borough is requesting that realtors assist the Borough by advising property owners that would be impacted by this effort. The Borough will make further public announcements upon award of the contract. Please be advised that it is possible that the work will continue into May 2006, but it is anticipated that it will be completed well in advance of Memorial Day weekend.
In addition, the Borough has recently awarded a contract for the mechanical transport of approximately 60,000 cubic yards of sand, via trucks, from the Borough’s southerly beaches to the beaches between 18th and 24th Streets. This project is expected to begin in February and continue through March.
